Aymeric. Canyoning in Rio Langevin, next to the waterfall of Grand Galet. The relief of the land led to the formation of countless bras, (local name defined by mountain streams) and ravines (torrents). With more than 70 canyons equipped, plus countless climbing routes, Meeting is without doubt a world reference for lovers of canyoning. The characteristics of the majority of declines, quite different from the ravines we have for our latitudes. In Meeting the main protagonist is the slope, both total and partial, since large waterfalls are common, such as Ravine Blanche, where initially water rushes through cascades paths 440 and 310 meters respectively. Or also accumulated altitude in excess of 1000 meters, such as the Bras Magazine, at 1,140 meters. The approaches and ravines returns are also an adventure, since in many cases, especially in the canyons Salazie Circus, running through thick vegetation, saving sections that become vertical with the help of ropes fixed aluminum ladders, or just doing the Tarzan by the roots and branches of trees. They are what are called in Reunion sentiers of canyoneurs (hitting trails or canyoning). We alucinábamos to think about work and difficulty opening these trails should carry. Proof of this is that the opening of the ravine of Rivière des Roches, involved a 14-day expedition, the biggest opening in the history of canyoning. Back in 1989 the French mountain guide Pascal Colas, first came to Meeting on an expedition of three weeks. Pascal became enthralled with the extraordinary potential of the island, so much so that what was initially going to be a three week stay turned into six months ... To him we owe the birth of canyoning and climbing on the island and the opening of many descents as the Trou de Fer, Takamaka, Ravine Blanche Fleur Jaunes and so on. Pascal finally settled in Reunion, founding several companies of guides: Canyon Reunion, the Compagnie des Guides de la Réunion and Réunion Sensations. All gullies can be classified into three groups according to their characteristics: the ravines green, red and blue. The green ravines are located in Circus Salazie. They are so called because of the lush vegetation that surrounds and are very engaged. Because accesses both characteristics exhibit a quite complex. The red cliffs are located in Circus and Mafate Cilaos. They owe their name to the countless ferrous outcrops that give so characteristic reddish color to the rock. Your profile is similar to the canyons we found for our latitudes, particularly in the Pyrenees. Finally the blue cliffs located in the coastal and dry much of the year, have a little embedded channel and therefore a relatively simple access.
