Today we went on a long hike to Salinas de Maras. The trek from the hotel was along a path surrounded by rural farms. We followed this path for about 30mins, passing the local crops (corn and a few vegetables) and animals (mainly chickens, ducks, pigs, cows/bulls and dogs). Dan got a fright from some of the roosters and hens protecting their young. We came across a restaurant, that looked like a white palace, overlooking the river with manicured gardens, absolutely gorgeous. We are going there for lunch tomorrow, as the buffet made our mouths water. From here, we had to cross the river using an old cable bridge, the surface being old wooden planks where you can see the fast flowing water down below...we treaded carefully as most planks were very loose, hearing the squeeking as we took each step. Cristina silvente and Iris Reboredo.
