Large numbers of bats living inside the caves of Gomantong. These caves, located on limestone hills around the lower Kinabatangan, made famous by the quantity of edible birds nests that house. These nests are known for their medicinal properties between the local Chinese community, and are harvested rattan and bamboo instruments, arranging them on a ladder hanging over 30 m. above the cave floor. After collection, these nests are submerged in water to remove mud and feathers, leaving them clean. Then sold to the local Chinese community and are exported to many parts of the world. Nests collectors can earn big money and, therefore, harvesting is rigidly controlled by a licensing system. These points are an attractive both professional and amateur to animals and nature in general. If you're one of them, feel free to visit them.
